I have a different opinion than Shawn about castrating, doesn't make either of us wrong just differing opinions. I wait as long as possible to band to allow the urinary tract to develop as much as possible, usually 6 weeks to 2 months. I also pull the band down as close to the testicles as possible to try to avoid catching part of the urinary tract under the band and then I watch for them to be able to urinate. After a week we cut the sac off just below the band, spray with antiseptic and let them go. No bleeding from cutting off the sac and have had no infections since we started doing this. We did have some instances in the past with some infection when we let the sac drop off on its own. I like for them to have had CDT before being castrated.
