Thank you Gary and Vicki. I really enjoy this message board and thanks to conscience people like you- I feel the misinformation is kept to a minimum here at this site. I recommend this site to my goat clients and enjoy it myself- -- when I have the time!!
Misuse of drugs is a common problem and educating people is the only way to help reduce this problem. Many new to the industry do not realize that meat and milk withdrawals are important for the health and safety of the food supply- not to mention that failure to comply is a federal offense. This year is my second year to serve as official veterinarian for the San Antonio Livestock Show and Rodeo and I am also on the veterinary committee for Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo. So I deal with this problem mostly as it pertains to show animals- but any food producing animal should be treated properly and withdrawal times followed accordingly. If the drug is not labled for use in a certain species you should consult with your vet before using it.
