Hello James,

Please refer to the post entitled "Use of Gentamicin" - depending upon the use and purpose of your doe, I am rethinking the Gentamicin/Penicillin G treatment and more apt to go with just the Penicillin treatment instead - still paying heed to other factors involved: definately take a milk sample and store it in the refrigerator so you can have it tested if she does not respond to treatment. Also, the ToDay teat infusion is another treatment that many breeders use.

While I'm not one to change my mind about treatment procedures and the drugs used within just because someone said something, I did research the Gentamicin through the FDA and discovered what was told to me to be true.

As I think back on our doe having mastitis, one breeder told me to "just give the Penicillin" and nothing else. Perhaps this person knew about the Gentamicin withdrawal time - I don't know.

Best regards,

Gary Pfalzbot
