Make sure and keep her isolated from the rest of the herd. All of the gauze, exude from the abscess etc. is highly infective. It is much more advisable to have the whole abscess removed intact, rather than to have them lanced. If the whole abscess had been removed, then you would only be dealing with a simple incision and stitches, with no worry about weeping coming in contact with your place and other animals. If this abscess was infact CL she will have others, could have them internally, and also in her udder which will infect her kids. This is also contagious to humans, it is listed as zoonic. Vicki
