I agree that fecal culture testing for Johne's is the most accurate test. But it can take 12 weeks for results. The blood antibody test used on cattle, the ELISA test is not standardized for goats at this time so the AGID blood antibody test is used for goats. We test the entire herd yearly, rotating from the AGID test to the fecal culture test. According to Dr. Collin's web site for Johne's Disease http://www.vetmed.wisc.edu/pbs/johnes/faq.html
if the whole herd tests negative using either test, then there is a high probability that the herd is indeed negative. But if you suspect a goat of having Johne's the fecal test is the best way to go for sure!
