This is the kind of question that I get at our 4H meetings, them kids can stump me all the time! They get a huge kick out of it!

It makes an improvement in as far as the kid has better immunity to fight disease. And logically a step further would be since she does have better immunity from an older doe who has had more life time illnesses and vaccinations, than yes she should have better colostrum her first year than another doe that......well you get it. But perhaps having the soremouth, ecoli, bacterial infection, worms, yourself is the best way to grow immunity to give to your kids?

But I simply don't use the first fresheners colostrum on my herd, but then we have always had older stock to use their colostrum anyway. And then does healthy stock come from this, or from having stock a long time? Can you really compare your stock from when you started with goats, to stock now? I some times look back at the stuff we did 15 years ago, and wonder how the girls even lived though our bumbling!!

This is a little like those paradox's my husband is always trying to explain to me.......and obviously I am not very good at them! Vicki
