I still am not sure what is supposed to happen by keeping the goat from water, then drenching it later, but it doesn't sound like the best thing for the goat.
At our county youth fair each year our Herdsman award is a very nice plaque, no premiums paid on it, just a plaque. Neverless,I think this is the most important award an exhibitor can win.
The exhibitor may or may not have the best goats in the show, but they truly do now how to care for the animals they are showing. I make it a point to stress this each year, and the judge has started to have difficulty determining a winner! She is an excellent judge, and knows what to look for.
I am very proud of all the kids that show here, and try to get them started out right so they can do well as they improve their herd and move on to the bigger shows in the future.
