Was it a difficult birth for the doe that abandoned her kid? We had a cow abandon her kid, we had to pull the calf and she acted like a big baby about it. Then when I took her calf up to her head to see it she ran like the devil was after her and NEVER looked back. She had a sweet calf, we named Daisy, so we kept the mom hoping that this time when she calves she will accept the calf. If not, we will probably sell her.
That's just a guess on my part. I have never had a goat abandon her kid, even with difficult births. THey are always wonderful mommies.
