I have to share an interesting story with you guys on goats and their quirky personalities. I am borrowing a Nubian buck to breed a doe that I could not see cycle. I have had the guy a couple of weeks and during this last cold snap he got a snuffy, snotty nose. Of course being a borrowed animal you get a bit more excited about these things. I notified his owner, put him in a box stall in the barn with his girl, and watched him for a day. THen he seemed bright still but a bit off feed so we decided to pull out a big gun and zap him with NUFLOR. He has had two doses so far and no snots but still acting kinda off. I was out last night doing chores and decided to let him and his girl out to run around loose while I did chores. He comes out and they go snooping around. They go over by my Nigerian dwarf bucks and then, Prism(the nubian) gets a little excited. He then decides that his girl looks pretty good to him and starts talking to her, she's wagging her tail and he proceeds to breed her. They are in love!!! I don't know what to think about him. Was he moping because I put him in the barn where he couldn't see what was happening or what????? I have heard these nubians are strange people, not your normal run of the mill goats and I am thinking it is so. Anyone else have these things happen?
