Snowing Like Crazy

Hi folks,

Well it has been a real crazy day here at GoatWorld (the actual physical location) - They kept saying "maybe a chance of snow" by Christmas late last week...as it drew closer, it suddenly became a Winter Storm Warning. I left the house this morning at 7:30 and by roughly 1:30, we had quite a few inches of snow. It got so bad that I decided to leave at 3:00 and it took me about 2 1/2 hours to drive 15 miles home! You wouldn't believe the number of slide-offs and spin-outs. The one lone bridge that I had to cross was blocked with a semi that had slid off. The interstate was completely choked at a standstill according to the radio. That's when the Thundersnow started coming down. Great big powdery flakes - a total white out condition.

So I get home and no sooner than I get in the door than I am greeted by a blackout - yep, power goes off. After a couple of hours it finally came back on but has been going off for a couple of seconds at a time. Hope I get this message done before it goes out.

Anyway, you can't imagine the crowd at the feedmill. It has been so busy that they have kept us running like a pack of Huskies running the Iditarod (Alaskan Dog Sled Race). They normally come in one or two at a time but they've been coming in 5 and 6 at a time and having to send a gopher out to the lot to play traffic cop. I don't know how many tons of feed went out the door but I know it was alot. That frenzied spirit people get in when they know the storm is coming. Just thought I'd share a day in the hectic life here on this end. I also wanted to take a minute or two to wish everyone the happiest of holidays. I know that not everyone celebrates Christmas but nonetheless, each of us has a holiday in our own sense so I hope everyone makes the very best of it.

I will probably be around here the next few days more than normal for being snowed in and for the time off. Hope to get some things done to the site. Please be safe everyone and keep your goats healthy and happy. I'll check in tomorrow with the latest snow totals.

Best regards,

Gary
