Could a dog (even yours) gone nosing around her cage? A fox, raccoon, or possum? In her panic and racing around the cage looking for a way to escape, she would bang her body so hard against the sides of the cage and twist her back and break it. Has nothing to do with being able to get her foot through the wire. I have to be careful when appoaching my rabbitry at strange times during the day and from different directions. If I walk around behind the cages (checking the automatic drinking system) the rabbits panic and race around their cages, even when I talk to them and they know its me. MAke sure her permanent pen has holes small enough that she can't stick a foot out. I have caught my cat reaching through a large holed cage and trying to pull bunnies throug the wire. He couldn't get the whole bunny out but the part he did get through the wire he chewed off...Not good at all. So if your rabbit can stick a foot out she would be easy prey to a fox, raccoon, possum or passing dog or cat....Don't mean to gross you out but better to hear it like this than to experience it! Rabbits are fun, I love mine (even though I eat them too!) Good luck and have fun with them!
