Has anyone had any experience with feeding field peas that have been cut and baled just like greenfeed? One of the crops grown in this part of the world is feed peas. We have about 220 pea bales that were given to us by my hubby's son. The goats are just crazy for them but I do know that I can't feed a steady diet of them as they gain a terrific amount of weight and a neighbor tells me that feeding peas to pregnant does causes kidding problems in that the kids get too big to make kidding easy and that some of the large kids have had trouble with their legs. Now she has not been raising goats for very long and I would just like to get imput of any of you who might have fed this to your animals. Horses like it as do most animals. Right now I am mixing it into their feeds much like a treat rather than just feeding it. Thoughts?
