Hi Helene,
It almost sounds like the stuff they use to control ticks on dogs called Advantage, FrontLine or a similar product by a different name. It comes in a small tube and is given in proportion to the weight of the dog - applied at the nape of the neck. But to be honest, I don't know if it repels anything other than ticks and mites. For cattle, you'd need a pretty large tube of the stuff.
I don't think it would be Cydectin because while this is a pour-on antiparasitic for cattle, it is given orally to goats. As far as its overall effectiveness, it has worked wonders for our goats. When the Ivomec isn't doing the job, the Cydectin will. There are a couple of drawbacks though: have been reports that it "may" cause abortions and "may" also cause problems if given in conjunction with a CD/T shot. It is known as a "third generation" wormer.
I'll see what I can find on any new goat wormers that have become available.
Best regards,
Gary
