I really do think on a hole Nubian Bucks are slower to get it all together. Perhaps because of their eventual size it just takes longer. My april Nubian buck Bishop has just this last couple of weeks really started displaying his admiration for the juniors in the adjacent pen. In fact he went from a big baby to a blubbering fool nearly overnight, his once sleek hair and round body has turned into a sticky wet mess with his hair on end and I swear he looks thinner and his chest has widend in 2 weeks!
With as cantankerous as Alpines can be, please don't let the big girls pick on him when he is so young, just like you wouldn't put a new doeling in with them! You will have to hand breed this year, I find keeping the older girls on a leash works great! Vicki
