First site is one for CAE, though there are lots of others. The second site is one for hypocalcemia. Your doe could also have been anemic from a worm load, the tell tale signs are weakness, grey gums and eye lids. We always worm our does after they kid, but you may also need to get them a good worming with something that works for your area during the pregnancy. We always try to get our does in excellent condition before they are bred, which includes fecal sampling them to make sure worms are at a minimum.
The CAE I discussed was describing the symptoms of the hard udder.
I am so sorry for your does death. You may also want to search through this goatworld site, we have discussed CAE at length. You can also email me privatley if you would like to discuss anything specific. Vicki
