Alfalfa (lucerne)is a great high protein feed for goats but like everything use it as PART of their diet. We feed it as chaff to our kids with a grain mix and cut green straight off the paddock for our does. The only times I know of to take care feeding it are just prior to kidding (the high calcium content can interfere with the does natural calcium processing which may cause milk fever) and prior to mating (high estrogens may interfere with does cycling). Your meadow/alfalfa mix sounds great!
