Hey! Hay Questions....

I have fenced the area that my husband wants for his garden,half is leftover growth from last year (cornstalks etc) and half is the lovely mix of grass and weeds that we call a lawn. The goats now have access to this and I have stopped giving hay. The girls are very upset with me although they are grazing/browsing in the garden. They are still getting their regular Goat Chow ration.Do they need hay if there is good green stuff available?
