Hello Sandy,
Out of all our goats, we've only had one that had this condition and it is not to be taken lightly. In other words, the faster you act, the better the chance of the outcome and saving your goat.
The method that we've used as well as many other people on the list is to use ammonium chloride (available here at the GoatWorld Store cheap). For emergency situations like this, what I would do is put a tablespoon or two in 1/2 to one gallon of water and offer this as the ONLY sourse of water.
Any of your other bucks should be put on a similar ration at 1/2 tablespoon per 1 to 5 gallons of water - even though they don't have this condition known as Urinary Calculi. (I'm mixing it up in a five gallon bucket 1 tablespoon per five gallons. I now keep all our bucks water treated this way to preven this condition from happening again.
Now since this is an emergency situation, I would not offer a whole lot in the way of water until you can get some of this stuff, or, if your vet decides that the end of the penis needs to be cut (pizzle), then that is the next best thing from what I've read and have heard.
With our buck, he began showing severe discomfort and upon inspecting him, I noticed that a small bubble appeared on the sheath. I gave him the ammonium chloride and trimmed the end of the penis and it was like turning on a faucet. He urinated alot at once. I believe I also gave him either 1 cc of Gentamycin or 3 cc's of penicillin to counteract any possible infection. This treatment worked for us.
Hope things turn out alright.
Best regards,
