Hi Linda,
It seems that after kidding is done, shots and whatecr else its time for clipping. I usually start clipping in late May here in VA as its still pretty cool til then. what kind of clippers did you get? When i first bought clippers a few years ag i wasn't really savvy as to what kind worked best and got a pair from the local K-Mart, oster dog clippers. i was so pleased with myself! But alas..... i soon found them to be useless on clipping goats. So then i got serious and invested in a pair of goat clippers from oster, body clippers and then a smaller clipper for trim jobs, legs, face, etc. For this i got a pair of Andis. i love the Andis as they are so quiet and don't scare the gilrs or bad boys.
Here is how i clip in a nutshell. I start with the body, the at the back, using the body clippers and shaving against the hair. I do this all over, the body, legs, underbelly, neck, etc. Then i brush hair off and use the smaller ones on the pasturns, feet, tails (actually i found my big clippers work great on tails) and the face and head. i hate shaving the heads. They are so uncooperative. But I do it the same, against the grain of the hair. then I get the ears, the inside, i start on this by folding the ear in 2 and then clip and eventually open the ear again and work to trim hairs. I hope this helps and gives you a basic idea. Take care.
Bernice
