disturbing question to ask

im going to apologize for this question first of all......

i was recently very disturbed to hear this story. some hispanics (so the tv story said) were skinning a goat within the city limits and were given only a warning by the local police that it was a health and sanitation risk because of "stuff" in the city garbage containers.

my question is, is it common practice to slaughter alive?? is this a hispanic thing?? is this a hispanic religious thing?? is this just something i do not understand??

i personally do not consume goat, i do like goat cheese, but have never eaten goat.... and wont. i had one as a pet as a child and could not bring myself to do this.
