Well... you make a good point about your concerns and i am willing to bet its from some disenchantment of your percpetions of raising meat goats. it seems that there is a lot of information out there on raising goats adn ideas. However, when you are new its easy to take it as gossible truth. Thats where some breeders try to sell their culls to make $ to unsuspecting newbies. I am not catagorizing here, that all bredders do this, just some. I've seen the market change a lot over the years as well. And albeit meat goats differ from dairy its still true for all kinds. An example would be trying to pawn off goats with such problems as cae and CL. See... not all newbies are aware of this. JUst look at the number of posts to different lists and forums with newbies asking for help. I think however, there is a website for newbies and helping them understand whats a good goat and a cull.
But there are a lot of good and honest breeders out there, more so than those who would take advantage of a new person or a 4-H kid.
As for registration have you talked to the other meat goat reg organization, The IBGA? A few yrs ago there was a big mess between the IBGA and The IBGA and so the new organization was formed from folks working at IBGA. I think thats how it went, been awhile and we now raise dairy goats. Hope this helps. And yes, your post does sound like bashing, guess its hard sometimes to interpret what someone writes in their posts as we don't have those important voices to say it in and be understood. I hope yours in the latter. besides, being critical in too much negatives makes the person look disreputable. Just my humble opinion.
