I know you all get sick of me but....you will simply not believe the money you will save, the greif you will lessen from your shoulders, and the amount of BS you can call BS when you learn to do your own fecal sampling. Even just taking in some poop (about 7 nannyberries) to the vet, mine charges 10$, much cheaper than worming even my little herd of 25! This way I know what I have, know if my wormer is working, and know beyond a shawdow of a doubt that I do not need, even in Worm Heaven also known as East Texas, to worm monthly. It has been posted and stated over and over, been the subject of Texas A&M studies, and talked about at every goat club, you do not switch between wormers! Switching hits a worm with one drug one time, than another drug the other time, making baby worms that are resistant to each drug, till you have nothing else to use! Use a wormer that works, here Valbazen works at 8cc per 100 pounds, less than 2 hours away over at Kay's house she doesn't use Valbazen because it doesn't work. (think I got that right) I have also purchased goats from her neck of the world who were very resistant to Ivermectin, to the point of less than a 25% kill on fecal which is nothing. Though in my homegrown girls, we still use Ivermectin 1% injectable, at 2cc per 100 pounds orally. Now Safeguard, because of how I missused this in the past (really I blame all the TBZ nonsense) is worthless, I could kill more worms by squirting it on the ground! Even at 5 times the dosage we had less than 50% kill, way to expenisive to use. A 68% kill that Texas A&M gave also for safeguard and Panacur, 80% kill on Levisole (but giving this cocktail together gave them a 99% efficency), something almost unheard of.

Gary was doing some good work with fecals, maybe contact him, I know that llamaproducts.com sells a less than 20$ complete fecal sample kit with great instructions, all you need is to add a cheapo microscope, all it needs is its own light source. No reflector types.

I promise not to repeat this dribble for at least a month! :) You all have a great day! Vicki
