No I am not milking the mom... I don't know but mayby things are different in the Nigerian world...... Some milk for the milk and many bottle feed all their babies as extra CAE prevention.. Some just bottle feed the ones who will go for pets....Many do it so babies can go earlier.. People getting them for pets take them home and finish bottle feeding them and really bond.
When I got my one buck he was on the bottle and it was just plain whole vit D milk from the store. Hes very well developed and healthy as can be. Plus... I have never seen diareaha... I have 3 on the bottle now and not one sign of problems. Although I don't bottle feed any of the others that will be breeding and/or show prospects.. they stay on Mom... Just the ones who will be wethers and go for pets.
Barbaras suggestion is also good... just lots of attention as all my babies get that... but these folks who want the pets want them sooner that I would wean them from Mama - thus - the bottle..
Thanks for all the responses... When we are new at this the experience of others is helpful and much appreciated..
