The wife came home this afternoon to one of our Alpine does...dead in the field. Her two kids, (one month old) lying by her side. She had been ill for a couple of weeks. We tried everything that Pipestone Vets had directed us to do. My question to all is this: The one month old kids were not completely weaned. They do free roam graze, eat hay and grain. I have plenty of goat milk replacer, but when we tried to bottle feed last week they resisted. Should we just leave them alone, or try again?
