I prefer loose mineral salt (cattle or horse) to putting out just salt, or blocks of any kind. This gives your goats more minerals, vitamins and copper, than they could lick in a year on blocks.

The difference between Llamas and dogs? Dogs have paws and Llamas have hooves :) I think all of this, dogs, llamas and donkeys all has to do with the person and the location of the goats. Though our dog works great for the barn and our heavily wooded acreage, I think the donkeys for us are going to be a real asset in the pastures. Even though the donkeys as of yet aren't out with the goats, they are just yearlings, we haven't seen our fox once in their pasture this winter! Vicki
