Because it would be impossible to clean a puncture wound I would put her on penicillin, which is the best for prevention of wound infection. Any 300,000 unit penicillin is dosed at 3cc per 50 pounds, give this subq once a day. Now if she has an infection you would give the first injections IM to get it into her system quickly and also give the shots every 12 hours. 5 days would be enough, though if she were already ill, you would be giving this for 24 hours after symptoms subside, which could be 10 days. If this wasn't a deep puncture and you are certain she was clean when you super glued her back together than just update her tetanus shot. Vicki
