Iodine deficiency?

I have several Nubian cross does with swollen glands in the throat, two glands, easily felt and very visible. One just had kids yesterday. One kid has very pronounced swelling in the throat (looks like a Rex rabbit) and somewhat weak legs (she walks on her hocks). The other was born mostly hairless, had no strength at all in his legs, no suck reflex, but no obvious swelling in the throat. I had to put that one down, since he showed no sign of recovery and was beginning to retract and becoming unresponsive. Could this be an iodine deficiency? I have not been providing mineral supplements, since they have been free ranging around the place and picking up whatever weeds they feel like eating. I am stopping on the way home from work to pick up some sort of trace mineral stuff. Will the newborn get enough to help through nursing? I'm kinda new to this, and the local vet is not much help with goats.
