Your best bet is to find a goat mentor in your area. I live in East Texas with no freezes and hot humid weather, we tease that our goats are just big fancy motels for worms and cocci! But it isn't far from the truth. So we rely heavily on fecal sample both before worming to see the numbers but also after to see if we are getting the numbers lower. We use all products orally. Ivermectin 1% Cattle injectable gives us a 99% kill of hemoncous at 2cc per 100 pounds, though just down the road the gal is already using 3cc per 100, it is syringed out of the bottle and given orally. We do use ivermectin as an injection Sub q for lice, nose bots and menengieal worm. Our best all around wormer still is Valbazen Cattle Drench, not only 99% on stongides and hemoncous but also lung worm, tapes etc. 6cc per 100 pounds, make sure and use a weight tape or scale, and don't guess those weights. We have had good results with Cydectin Pouron used orally at 1cc per 35 pounds, though have also heard some real diasters using it as a pour on, and a severe allergic reaction on a man using this with some splashed on himself. Plus it is expensive. Safeguard even used at 3 times the dosage has only a 67% kill here. You can really save yourself time and money on wormer by doing fecals yourself (a very easy thing to learn) or by taking 5 ot 6 fresh goat pellets into your vet for testing. saanendoah.com has an excellent site to visit with all sorts of information on this, and also on how to do your own fecal samples.
