Hi Helen,

You might try giving them a little extra grain but not all at once. Personally, we give our goats a little cracked corn now and then but not alot at one time. Perhaps some others will write more on this subject that can tell you better. A sudden change in diet will actually cause a decline. I've found that out the hard way with our goats by feeding them hay and pasture and then suddenly giving them all the grain they want. They get sluggish, sometimes get diarrhea and just overall seem not to full of life. It is pretty hard on them. I'd keep the fresh hay coming with perhaps some loose minerals here and there. Just don't make sudden, abrupt feeding changes. Oh, you might want to white wormer them a few weeks before going to sale. Those darn worms can keep them skinny looking no matter how much you feed. And if I remember correctly, someone told me a "fat" goat is not a healthy goat. All they can eat is sometimes not good either. Just like it is for us humans.
