Hello everyone,
Thanks to the request and help of Vicki McGaugh, we now have a Goat (Caprine)Terminology page up and running at:
http://www.goatworld.com/articles/terminology.shtml
While the list of terminology applicable to goats is not yet comprehensive, Vicki has provided a number of very useful terms and their definitions. If anyone has any other terms that they would like to see listed, please let me know via the Message Forum or Email (gary@goatworld.com) and I will be happy to add them.
A couple of questions though -
1) Would you like to see a link to the Terminology Page on the Message Forum (in plain view for easy access)?
2) A couple of terms that I added: Nanny and Billy - I had been told that these are really the "official" names for goats. Can anyone provide me me conclusive data on these two terms. I have always understood that a "nanny" is a mother goat "nannying" her kids. A Billy is the sire goat of the kids. Where a buck and a billy differ is in that the buck has not yet sired kids.
Thank you Vicki and best regards,
Gary
