I can't answer as to whether or not it's a religious thing, but Yes, goat meat is popular with Hispanics. I have lived in central valley of california for 6 years and kept pygmys for 5 years. I have been told, by a good friend that is hispanic, that goats are kept for their meat, he told me to be sure to keep my babies secure. It bothers me also, along with the cockfighting, but that's another story. Good day to you.
